(Fasting is not recommended for Type 1 diabetics currently on insulin. My son is not on insulin because his beta cells are still producing insulin at a low level)
I monitored ketones and glucose levels with a ketomojo glucose meter using lancets and test strips.
I monitored blood pressure with at home blood pressure cuff.
I had him drink mineral water and gave him electrolytes. Drink 2-3 liters of water a day.
I had him take a walk each day, get fresh air and sun.
I monitored his symptoms.
Refeeding very slowly with a few bites of avocado, wait 45 minutes, sauerkraut, wait 30-40 min and had a cup of bone broth, wait 40 minutes and had salmon and steamed broccoli and that was it for the day as it was evening by this point. Chicken is also a good protein to use when breaking a fast.
My son’s symptoms were a low blood pressure in which I gave him salt, fatigue and weakness, and slight hunger. He said it wasn’t bad. His glucose went to 55 and held steady for the last two days of the 3-day fast.
